Building Resilient Infrastructure

For Medical Mission Sisters being a healing presence takes actual shape in many different ministries. In Rubanda, Uganda Sister Modester Kombe shares her knowledge and skills as a teacher of building and construction at the Rubanda Technical Training Institute. There she educates her students to build durable, friendly, quality buildings that can promote healthy living and reduce maintenance and repairs. Good health and safety measures in the working environment to reduce accidents, sickness or loss of life on a construction job are an important part of her work as is teaching students to know the role and rights of employers and employees. She is energized to be able to connect her local contribution to the global agenda of the UN. That is Sustainable Development Goal 9, to build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
