International Women's Day

On March 8, Medical Mission Sisters join millions around the world in marking International Women’s Day. Observed since the early 1900s, in many countries it is a national holiday. Thousands of events not only occur on this day but throughout the month of March to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Medical Mission Sisters have advocated equality and opportunities for women for over 90 years on the five continents in which we serve. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says, “Let us devote solid funding, courageous advocacy and unbending political will to achieve gender equality around the world. There is no greater investment in our common future.”
