MMS Mark World Water Day

On March 22, Medical Mission Sisters join many in marking World Water Day. Today, almost half the world's workers—1.5 billion people—work in water-related sectors and nearly all jobs depend on water and those that ensure its safe delivery. This year’s theme—water and jobs—focuses on how enough quantity and quality of water can change workers’ lives and livelihoods, and transform societies and economies. Many of our Sisters are involved in clean water projects around the world. In Ethiopia, Sister Elaine Kohls has been active in ensuring safe and clean water for many years. There are now more than 140 tube wells, which started as hand-dug wells under the leadership of Sister Elaine. They have resulted in better health for thousands of women, children and men.
