Medical Mission Sisters at COP31: A Call to Climate Justice | Antalya, Türkiye November 9–20, 2026
Medical Mission Sisters will participate in the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), taking place in Antalya, Türkiye, from November 9–20, 2026.
Our commitment to healing calls us to care for both people and the planet. We see climate change not only as an environmental concern but also as an issue of human dignity, health, and justice. Its impacts are felt most deeply by vulnerable communities, particularly those already experiencing poverty and displacement.
Sr. Immaculate Tusingwire of Unit Uganda/Malawi will attend COP31 in person, representing the Society and bringing our mission perspective into global conversations. Her participation will include engaging with faith-based and civil society organizations, following climate negotiations, strengthening networks, and advocating for climate justice.
A highlight of our participation is our co-sponsored side event:
Faiths for a Just Transition Away from Fossil Fuels and Climate Justice
November 18, 2026 at 11:30 AM–1:00 PM
Side Event Room 4 – AŞIK VEYSEL
The event will bring together faith leaders, civil society representatives, and government delegates to reflect on the moral and spiritual dimensions of climate action and strengthen collaboration toward a just transition away from fossil fuels.
As Medical Mission Sisters, we believe that healing our world means responding to the wounds of both people and the planet. We bring to COP31 the hopes, concerns, and commitment of our Sisters, Associates, and the communities we accompany around the world.
Together, we continue to work for climate justice, care for creation, and a more just and sustainable future for all.
